Your support and contributions will enable us to provide the best care we can for our furry friends.
Meet Patches, he was adopted from Sweet Mercies Rescue Ranch. Patches is such a sweet horse, and went through a long recovery process before coming here. He is eager to please, and loves getting brushed.
Meet Gator, he is one of our most friendly horses. Gator was rescued from the meat truck and brought to a rescue center in Texas. He was very skinny and his hooves were overgrown. When we met Gator for the first time he walked right up to us and gave us a nudge. We brought him to Joyful Ranch and have been helping him through his continued hoof issues. Gator is special, he meets our clients at the gate for a back scratch every time. He works with people by helping them learn new coping skills.
Gunner was our first rescue horse. He gives the best hugs and often loves all the people who come to do equine therapy with him. He has let people hold onto him when they cry. We gave him a forever home after meeting him at the Humane Society of North Texas. He was surrendered because his owner got to old to care for him. He is retiring happily while helping people get through tough counseling issues and trauma.
Spike was donated to us by Campfire Creek Therapeutic Riding Center in Texas. He has had disabled kids riding him for years, he is older and helps with our teen groups. He enjoys treats and will smell your hand each time to double triple check if you have a treat. He struggles with some hoof issues and is slowly healing from a bad visit with a Ferrier a few years ago.
On the ranch we have 2 geese and 13 ducks. Including a duck pond. Many of our ducks are taken in from people who could not care for them anymore, some where even rescued after being abandoned, while a few where raised here on the ranch.
Max and Elle are the cutest pair. Max comforts people when they cry, he stays with them and checks on them regularly. Elle is soft and fluffy and loves attention. She is very calm and enjoys hanging out with the horses just as much as we do. They hang out with us inside when the weather is not great, and provide lots of laughs, and hugs.
Pepper our Guinea Pig helps us learn boundaries and provides indoor therapy lessons when the weather is bad. She was donated to us, by someone who rescued them from being mistreated.
Pongo, Perdy. Lucy, and Lucky, our mini pigs provide rewarding relaxation time and laughs. They love belly rubs and really help us learn to relax and enjoy rest.
Joyful Ranch Counseling was born from a deep-rooted passion for helping people and animals. We saw a community in need – in Springtown and beyond – wanting accessible mental health care. That's why we opened our doors, offering equine-assisted therapy and counseling services!
But our mission doesn't stop there.
We believe everyone deserves a chance to heal, regardless of their financial situation. As a non-profit rescue farm, we’ve found a unique way to combine our love for animals with our commitment to people. By providing low-cost counseling, we’re breaking down barriers and creating a brighter future for our community, one rescued animal and one healed heart at a time.
